Continue readingMy 1974 A Series Opel Manta. It’s been a long project and there are still a few little modifications I want to do in the future,. Now running a 2.0l+ CIH engine on full OMEX 600 engine management with Webcon throttle bodies. Everything is custom-made or adapted, from the full 2.5″ stainless steel exhaust, Wilwood racing callipers, Cosworth rear callipers, Hydraulic clutch, Chevy S10 clutch kit and lots more.. Read on for full details of the rebuild and hopefully one-day pictures of her out on the road in Germany!
Continue readingSo lots to do and this weekend its time to get started again. So along with a clean up of bits im looking to get the hydraulic clutch started. I have it setup as a little mock up and need to secure a few bits and get testing.
Continue readingOk, it’s been a while since i posted and also since i did much to the old A series! Life kind of gets in the way far too often!! So as i decided to fit the S10 clutch and new flywheel i decided it was time to fix a couple of bits i was not happy about and as i like to do things big style! it was engine and box out. So i now have the box and engine completely out, the front suspension and part of the exhaust. So things to fix: Manifold – drill out holes as they…
Continue readingJust a quick little pic of the engine before it drop it and the box out to add the new S10 clutch and flywheel and to sort out a few little bits and get the hydraulic clutch setup, then its back in and time to run her up and see what to do about tuning her up properly.
Continue readingEvery morning i open the garage to get the Vespa out and this is the site im greeted with. Even in the half-finished state, she does look stunning. I must get my finger out and drop the engine and box and pop in the new S10 clutch, check the bearings and get back on with the last few jobs and try to get her on the road for the summer!!
Continue readingSo i now have all the parts needed to finish off the front brakes. Got the last couple of goodridge fittings needed to connect to the Wilwood callipers and got a couple of spacers to space the calliper out the 3mm to get it centrally aligned with the disc. This was a better option as the other one was to have 3mm machined off of the custom adaptors. So a quick test fit tonight and then all i need to do is get some thread lock and cut the brake hose to length and fit it all up. A little job for…
Continue readingSo a little early Christmas prezzie for me and the last set of bits i need to complete the A series. So after Christmas its time to get back on the build. A big thanks to Nick in the Opel club for bringing the parts over and to Gil at Opel GT Source for sorting out the delivery. So i now have a chevy S10 clutch kit and matched Monza flywheel for the A all the way from Opel GT Source. This will handle all the power from the engine no problem as the clutch cover is a 6 bolt…
Continue readingA massive thank you to Thomas at Edelschmiede for locating me a very had to find oil pressure adaptor for the Manta A. I had been searching for ages for one of these and he found a brand new one 🙂 and while is was arranging with Thomas the delivery i had a quick look on his site http://www.edelschmiede.com/shop/ just in case there was anything i needed.
