When the car had a bit of an upgrade to the suspension about 12 years ago, it had coni adjustable shocks fitted and uprated springs. And to stop the front of the car looking like it was taking off, as a temporary measure the front springs were cut down to get the right ride height. And the plan was to then get some made to the right length, but as you can guess this never happened and the car ran around like that, which wasnt too bad but it did kill the spring top mounts which did need replacing every couple of years! but now as its all going to be sorted out properly im getting some made to fit properly and will run poly top hats that i have from Opel GT Source. After a bit of googleing i found these guys, Spring coil ltd, http://www.springcoil.co.uk. Up in Yorkshire, and after a quick call and a chat with Ryan, he said it souldnt be a problem and to send in a spring and they would be able to test it and make two new ones to the correct rating and heignt. So all i need to do is box one up and send it off next week and in a couple of weeks i should be able to put the front suspension back together ready to go on the car when i have finished the welding. Job done..
